Welcome to the November Newsletter.
Nino Pilla has contacted me in regards to a spectacular training
opportunity, please help our local icon with the promotion of the
Adelaide seminar ... See events section.
We wish Mick Murphy all the best in Sydney at the NAS for the 1st
and 2nd of Dec. and will look forward to posting his achievements.
New members.
I would like to welcome new members of Steve Miranda's "National
Karate Academies", Tracy Ellis's club "Chikara Budo"
and Mario Maiello of "Kushinkai". I hope you will all
benefit from your mixing with those members in the community of
martial arts who are happy to build a relationship with other styles.
Tracy and Damien have built a very family orientated club as have
past members now running their own clubs, one of those being Mick
Murphy. Many of us know Steve who has been around for many years
with his unique style of self-defence and over 1500 students in
20 clubs throughout South Australia. Mario gained recognition as
a formidable karateka in the ring and continues as head of his organisation.
Tournaments.
Some time in the future we hope to introduce tournaments but with
the NAS, Judo, Kyokushin and kick boxing already organised there
is probably enough on the calendar. We have decided that at this
time training days are the go. If anyone would like assistance or
have any other idea's, please contact me and we can work on it.
Training Day.
I hope to have Karol Stojko hosting the next one in February at
Payneham. We wish him the best as he nurses his broken leg. I'm
currently contacting some people to share their knowledge with us
on the day.
History.
Currently I am working with an author in Melbourne who is putting
together a book on "The History of Karate in Australia".
Terry Riches and I met with Enzo in Sydney during my trip to visit
Rob Dobson and Wally Szlagowski. It was here that I received a historical
8mm film of Koenishi Sensei sent to Wally. If you have any input
or photo's, even if it's just SA history, it would be appreciated.
Please remember it is in your interest to keep building your martial
arts community. Ask others if they need help or need a peer body.
If they can't see any value in joining, point out just to have a
link (with their photo) to their own web site certainly has to be
worth it.
Sometime in the future we will have up a local sponsors page. I
urge you to support them and we may even put up some inexpensive
links to you own business. I'll be working for discounts for your
members at local outlets and to events.
Watch here for future events and invite others along, all I ask
is for you to be responsible in whom you invite. Hopefully next
year we will have a major promotional show involving three other
peer bodies.
All the best with your training.
Thankyou
Kym Reid
SA President
