Welcome once again.
The other day I had an enquiry. A member of the IBF in Germany
was asking if we had a club in Petoria. I let him know "SA"
wasn't South Africa. What it did show me however was that being
part of a genuine international organisation makes it easier for
you members to get real recognition here and overseas.
This is what it's all about - Members supporting each other.
It's been a busy fortnight for many with gradings and Christmas
wind-ups being organised.
I'd first like to thank Steve Miranda for his invitation to Tracy
Ellis and myself to attend senior gradings within the "National
Karate Academies" on the 1st Dec.
We had a great time. I've come to know many in Steve's organisation
and congratulate all those that graded but my favourite was seeing
Chris Hutchinson giving it out to others for his 5th Dan (he's normally
Steve's uke). It is amazing how big a following Steve has with nearly
30 doing a black belt grading.
Steve returned the favour on the 2nd of Dec by attending Damien
Ellis's and Dominic's grading with myself and Dante Roccisano at
the Chikara Budo club. Steve's member Shannon and I sparred with
Damien and Dominic for their gradings. Damien had been waiting 9
years for his 3rd dan. Both passed along with several of the kyu
grades. It was inspiring to see a mother being awarded her brown
belt along with her two daughters, definitely a family oriented
club.
On the 9th of Dec. Dante and I were given an invitation to attend
the Toushido Karate Club.
Mick Murphy had just returned from a successful trip to the Sydney
NAS tournaments. He had a large contingent of students doing their
grading. It was a hard job for Dante and I to choose only one senior
and junior for an achievement medal but congratulations young Blake
and Kevin. Just like Tracy and Damiens club it was very family orientated
with several multiple family members grading that day. The most
notable being Bernard(63 years old) achieving his blue belt as did
his son and grandson! Congratulations to all.
I'd like to point out these were all in-club grading's. Steve,
Tracy, Dante and myself were there in support as part of the martial
arts community. IBF gradings can be organized with Terry Riches
and normally require at least the correct time lapse. To grade in
another art check out the head site for details and requirements.
First Aid Certificate
It has come to my attention that like many others my first aid
certificate needs upgrading. I am enquiring into costs etc. Is there
anyone else in the same boat? Maybe I can organise a group training
for IBF members.
Contact me.
Insurance
Are you starting up a club and need some info on insurance? Ask
Terry Riches or check out the head site. If you need to break up
the payments or need more info and enough of you are interested
I'll bring in a local broker to explain and negotiate a deal for
the IBF members.
Seminar
A reminder to look at the events section. This is a highly regarded
trio and I recommend you attend. It's on Friday the 14th so hurry
and contact Nino Pilla quickly.
Glen Middleton and myself will be there.
Have a Safe and Merry Chrismas and see you in the New Year
