Welcome
It's good to see a lot more interaction between the IBF Australia members and other organizations. Many members are already involved with judo competitions and with interclub days. In South Australia we are organizing a training day for next year with the local AJJA members and David Crook(Bak Fu Do Kung Fu) from Canberra as Vice-President of the Australian Kung Fu & Wu Shu Federation. In the past we have had Tony Fletcher from Queensland demonstrating Koshiki rules and Noel Keating from the International Tae Kwon Federation. I know President Terry Riches has been active with many comps and local training seminars but with the help of others (see www.wmachampionships.com ) has also been looking at setting up competitions for the IBF members.
In Western Australia people are beginning to see the benefits of being involved with the IBF Australia to broaden their knowledge of martial arts and to build a better martial arts community. I know Phil Barker is already making contacts to build that bond and met many at the WA Martial Arts Group training camp hosted by Tony Jackson.
It's all about positive interaction, a desire to learn more and actively networking to build a better community for your own club and organization. I hope we hear more of these activities in the future.

Another great training day on Nov. 2nd hosted by the Jinen Karate Jitsu club. While the constantly changing weather bought down many of those wanting to come with colds, flu etc. we still had a large representation. Once again it was great to see the support of the Murraylands people from the National Karate Acadamies. One person in particular who always gets involved is Lynne Schulz who is busy as a mother, full time MA instructor, NKA web site administrator but also the founder/co-ordinator of the National Twin Loss Support, a very worthy group to support so I encourage you to look at their site and see if you can help. www.nationaltwinloss.org.au
The day began with Mick Murphy demonstrating defences to knife attacks, Dante Roccisano with defence to the Jo and Noel Keating with knife disarming. I continued the theme with jujitsu techniques of defence to knife threats and then we had "Phil the Physio" talk about knee structure and care. After this we had Steve Miranda display his unique style and continued on with demonstrating a knife competition. This got everyone involved and made for a good day.
Afterwards everyone stayed on for pizza and drinks as they socialized and built relationships with more new faces. Tracy and Damien Ellis shared the day with their children and Glen Middleton was happy to be my uke. Karol Stojko unfortunately was in pain with his back but still attended and praised the turn out. This is what Karol did back in the early 1980's with the help of my instructor Rob Dobson and this is why we have a good strong community here and we will continue to grow on their past efforts to build a better martial arts community.
It was good to have Andrew McNeil there from the KUA and Noel Keating from the ITF. Unfortunately the AJJA guys all came back from Sydney with bad colds and Ash Sinclair also was inflicted. It'll be good to get together with Ash when he has recovered. He was the first Australian instructor in Crazy monkey and Keysi Fighting Method (although no longer involved in either), and is the first South Aussie instructor in Ray Floro's FFS knife system and ISR-PM Control and Restraint system. He is proud to call Ray Floro his instructor and close friend and I'm sure we can benefit from his patronage.
I look forward to many more of these training days and thank all the instructors for their support and contribution to building a better martial arts community.
Thank you
